swine flu or H1N1 virus can be easily misunderstood as a common flu. It has all the symptoms of a common flu and this is the reason why it is spreading like wild fire across the continents. Some people have recently claimed that traditional chinese medicines can not only be used to prevent its infection but also to cure this deadly virus. An article published from Ditan Hospital

in

Beijing has explicitly reported this.

Ganoderma is one of the well known Traditional Chinese Medicine which has been found to be effective on a number of modern health problems but how can it help us in our fight against Swine-flu virus too. Well, I don’t have any doubts about ganoderma’s worthiness but how can we be sure it can really help us or our family. I’ve read a number of reports on symptoms of H1N1 i.e. Swine flu virus and precautions to prevent getting infected from it.

If we look at the symptoms of Swine Flu which are nothing but symptoms that are commonly caused by cold or flu which may or may not be caused due to swine flu. Now, if we can prevent these symptoms then we can easily prevent a H1N1 virus infection. Can we be infected with this contagious swine flu and test H1N1 positive without showing any of these symptoms. I do not think that anyone can skip these symptoms get infected with this deadly virus.

How Ganoderma can help in preventing Swine-Flu Symptoms?

Preventing Coldness or Chill

Preventing Cough

Preventing Body Fatigue

Anti inflammatory properties of Ganoderma prevent fever

Head aches and Body Aches

Sore throat

Stuffy nose

Anyone who is healthy and fit with or without using ganoderma or any other traditional or alternative herbs and his/her immunity system is also good can easily prevent getting infected with any such virus if he/she is also following some precautionary measures.

Those who are taking herbs as a preventive health maintenance measure for quiet some time now will have further improved there immunity system and are therefore less likely to get infected.

Your can read more on how can you you get protection from H1N1 Virus by reading top 20 questions and answers at Medical News Today’s website.

Yogesh Bailwal has been promoting Ganoderma and Reishi Ganoderma based natural health care products to those who are seeking natural health in today’s atmosphere of polluted environment and polluted lifestyle. He accidentally discovered ganoderma and its health benefits when he was going through a difficult time.

He believes in ganoderma’s natural way of working on our body system and thinks that it is a perfect solution for those who are unable to take care of there health due to illness, age, disability, working condition, habits or any other factor which prevent a person from following other natural ways to health like exercising, yoga, meditation, sports etc. He manages a website on ganoderma and natural ways to care for health.

Wow! What is going on in the world these days? It seems that every time I turn around there is some sort of bad news about the economy or real estate market and now the infamous Swine Flu which has reached epidemic proportions! News and Panic of the Swine Flu is spreading like wild fire, but there are things you can do to prepare and protect yourself as well as clever ways to use this opportunity to make smarter decisions for your financial future!

What is the Swine Flu?

The Swine flu is caused by a strain of flu that is native to pigs. Symptoms of swine flu appear to be similar to other general strains of the flu. Most cases appear to exhibit only mild symptoms, however there are some which have become worse and even fatal.

3 Simple Ways to Prepare and Protect Yourself:

There are some very simple ways to protect yourself from catching Swine Flu:

1-Masks: If you live in an area where there are larger outbreaks and the sickness is spreading quickly, it would be smart to wear a surgical mask to protect yourself from the spread of airborne pathogens. Also cover your mouth whenever you have to sneeze or cough, using a tissue that you can throw away.

2- Hand Sanitizer: This is a simple and inexpensive way to kill germs on your hands to both protect yourself and limit spread of any germs from person to person or commonly touched items such as door handles or stair railings.

3- Wash your Hands!: This is the most obvious but sometimes most missed method of protecting yourself from the spread of any illness. Don’t forget to wash your hands!

Swine Flu’s Effect on Business and E-commerce:

It seems that nothing drives people to the media and the news like the breakout of a pandemic. The Swine flu has people listening to news updates daily and even hourly for any new facts about what is going on with this worldwide illness. The swine flu may even stir up increased business for some online business people. The fear of getting sick may cause some to want to stay home and avoid contact with large groups, increasing the likelihood of people who will choose to stay home and do their shopping and business online.

The more I hear about recent scares on the news such as swine flu and the recession, the more relieved I am to have chosen an online career instead of a traditional 9-5 job or bricks-and-mortar style business. E-commerce and Online Marketing is just so much more resistant to the effects of the recession or the negative impacts of an epidemic like the swine flu. Plus, by working online and at home, I definitely don’t have to worry as much about the chances of infection from constant person to person contact.

While the Swine flu is definitely nothing to be excited about, it is a very real threat and everyone should do what they can to be aware and protect themselves. I also think that a savvy, forward-thinking person can take this opportunity and make the most of it by making smart health and business decisions for their future!

A Swine Flu virus has health officials around the world working to contain the growing outbreak. One out of every five residents of Mexico’s most populous city wore masks to protect themselves against the virus as Mexico City seems to be the epicenter of the outbreak. As many as 103 deaths have been attributed to the swine flu so far with many more feared to be on the horizon. The health department of Mexico said an additional 1,614 reported cases have been documented.

So far, however, only 18 of the deaths in Mexico have been confirmed by laboratory tests to be from swine flu virus and reported to the World Health Organization as such.

In the US preparations have been upgraded for a possible swine flu virus outbreak after 20 cases were reported, also the first cases of the virus was reported in Canada on Sunday — six mild cases.

Swine flu or Swine Influenza is a contagious respiratory sickness that is normally only found in pigs. It is caused by a type-A influenza virus. Outbreaks in pigs occur year-round. The current strain is a new variation of an H1N1 virus, which is a mix of human and animal versions.

Normaly the swine flu virus only spreads from animal to person containing the spread but When the flu spreads person-to-person, it can continue to mutate, making it harder to combat because people have no natural immunity.

The symptoms are similar to the common flu. They include fever, lethargy, lack of appetite, coughing, runny nose, sore throat, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Learn more about swine flu and how to treat it in the link below.

The swine flu virus spreads when an infected person coughs or sneezes around another person. People can become infected by touching something with the flu virus on it and then touching their mouth, nose or eyes.

Calling it a “public health emergency of international concern” the World Health Organization (WHO) is very concerned. The WHO also says a public health emergency is an occurrence or imminent threat of illness or health conditions caused by bioterrorism, epidemic or pandemic disease, or highly fatal infectious agents or toxins that pose serious risk to a significant number of people.

Swine Flu Virus Protection?

Advice of health experts is to follow common-sense instructions: Wash your hands, stay home if you’re sick and listen to your local health authorities. Advice from the CDC about the situation is, “Very frequent hand-washing is something that we talk about time and time again and that is an effective way to reduce transmission of disease,”. They also advise, “If you’re sick, it’s very important that people stay at home. If your children are sick, have a fever and flu-like illness, they shouldn’t go to school. And if you’re ill, you shouldn’t get on an airplane or another public transport to travel. Those things are part of personal responsibility in trying to reduce the impact. ”

Swine Flu Symptoms

It is also noted that swine flu symptoms are relatively general and nonspecific. “So many different things can cause these symptoms. it is a dilemma,” says one doctor interviewed by CNN. “It is a challenge that we are wrestling with. There is not a perfect test right now to let a doctor know that a person has the Swine Flu.” It has been noted that most individuals with Swine Flu had an early on set of fever. Also it was common to see dizziness, body aches and vomiting in addition to the common sneezing, headache and other cold symptoms.

If you become sick and notice early onset of body aches, vomiting and dizziness you should consult with your doctor immediately. Although it is very unlikely that you have the Swine Flu virus, you should get medical confirmation just to be safe.

This Swine Flu virus outbreak could be a very dangerous epidemic or just another bump in the road. Health officials are still trying to figure out where exactly the virus originated, how transmissible it is and why it is mild in some cases and deadlier in others. In the mean time. Wash your hands, use common sense and be on a heightened alert to signs and symptoms of the Swine Flu virus. See you doctor if any unusual flu like symptoms occur.

The government has issued several reports and guidelines to help families prepare for a swine flu pandemic, should it happen. They are recommending stocking up on supplies such as hand sanitizers, masks, vaccinations, emergency food reserves, etc.

Coupled with everything that seems to be on the horizon as far as a coming food shortage, and emergency situations, it does make sense to prepare ourselves or at least have an emergency preparedness plan that is in place.

When an outbreak like Swine or Asian flu hits, a whole city can be quarantined for several weeks, and many of us will be quite relieved if we have enough food laid up to last through that.’

During a pandemic, what often happens is that there is a rush for emergency supplies, which quickly vaporizes them. And usually the civilian or government supplies are only for a short term and remaining reserves are distributed quickly.

They HIGHLY recommend stocking up on emergency items NOW before panic buying occurs and the “breakout” announcement is made on the 6 o’clock News.

If there is, in fact, a Swine Flu outbreak, the demand will be huge for things like food reserves, breathing masks, etc…

Symptoms of Swine or Asian Flu include:

fever

cough,

sore throat

muscle aches

eye infections

pneumonia

severe respiratory diseases

The symptoms of avian influenza may depend on which specific virus subtype and strain caused the infection.

As with anything that happens in life, do not panic! Simply prepare for the worst and the worst case scenario is that you will have emergency supplies on hand for come what may, for the next 30 years!

PREPARE NOW while time is still on your side and you can get the preparedness supplies you and your family need, and you will never HAVE the need to panic!

Every day our bodies are attacked by viruses and bacteria that weaken our immune system and make us more vulnerable to diseases like the Swine Flu.

Swine Flu is a serious disease. All flues are serious. Even with the flu shots so many people get, around 36,000 people die in the United States yearly from the flu. The concern is that a pandemic may occur. If it does, many more people will die. A pandemic is a disease that affects people worldwide. An epidemic is more contained.

The Swine Flu is a respiratory illness that is spread from pigs to humans to other humans. We spread it to each other much like we do colds-coughing, sneezing, and touching things with the virus on it. Wearing masks offer little protection unless you are also wearing disposable gloves and wash your hands well after disposing of both, then disinfecting the sink and handles. Unrealistic.

Symptoms are regular flu symptoms-fever, running nose, sore throat, and you can develop vomiting and diarrhea.

Treatment: Antibiotics don’t work against viruses. The antivirals may work but problems are developing that viruses are becoming immune to them. Plus to work, you must take them within 48 hours of contact. Often, with the flu, you don’t recognize the symptoms until it is too late for the antivirals to work.

So, how can we protect ourselves?

We keep our immune system in top shape so that if we do contact the Swine Flu, our bodies will fight serious complications. We boost our immune system with certain foods.

Double the orange juice. Don’t forget the kids. Have them trade some of that apple juice for orange juice.

Eat carrots, sweet potatoes, and sweet bell peppers.

Beans, whole grains, nuts, especially walnuts, shrimp, and red meat.

Garlic and onions are great for boosting the immune system.

Get your Vitamin D from the sun 15 minutes a day. Make sure your kids go outside after school for 15 minutes without sunscreen.

Drink plenty of liquids throughout the day to prevent dehydration even if you have no symptoms.

A meal that is loaded with immune boosters is Chili. Make with ground beef, red, green, and yellow sweet peppers, tomatoes, garlic, onions, and lots of beans.

How many times have you stayed in a hotel where you wondered about the hygiene and cleanliness of the bedding. What can you actually catch from sleeping on an unclean bed. Even if the sheets have been changed, what about the pillow or bedspread or blanket ?

Hepatitis A virus can survive outside the body for for months. HAV can survive certain acids and some heat and survive in dried feces. Other Hepatitis viruses such as HBV and HCV can live from 16 hours to up to a week.

Researchers have known since 2005 that “superbugs” like C.Difficille, which is found mainly in hospitals , can live for weeks in bedding and can be resistant to even bleach. Staphylococcus aureus ( MRSA ) is a relatively common bacterium found on skin and nasal surfaces of healthy people and animals. MRSA has cause outbreaks in schools and gyms, transmitted through contact with towels.

If bedding has not been changed or cleaned properly, transmission of bacteria and viruses is possible. Catching a virus from hotel bedding is not a common occurrence but it is possible, especially when you talk about padded headboards, quilted bedspreads and pillows , which can retain enough moisture to enable a virus to live long enough to infect. Bacteria, on the other hand, is a much hardier form of life.If the guest before you had a bacterial infection and deposited enough of that bacteria onto the headboard or pillow, then it’s possible you could be infected.

Molds responsible for respiratory and skin problems like eczema are virtually indestructible and can live almost anywhere. According to a 1999 Mayo clinic study, 93% of patients with chronic rhino-sinusitis ( CRS ) had allergenic fungal sinusitis. Molds thrive in damp dark areas, like the air conditioner area in tropical climates. That smell when you first turn on the air conditioner in your hotel could be symptomatic of a mold problem.

So what about swine flu ? Swine flu virus or the rhinoviruses that cause colds, needs living cells to stay alive. Without these cells, found in bodily fluids like blood, mucous or saliva, viruses have a short lifespan, between a few seconds and 48 hours, depending on the surface. Viruses tend to live longer on nonporous surfaces, like doorknobs, than on porous surfaces, like fabrics. But if the fabric is dampened with enough fluid, mucous, saliva or fecal matter, the virus may persist for much longer periods.

Can you catch swine flu from your hotel bed ? Not likely. You would have to lie down and put your face into a deposit of swine flu virus within minutes of an infected person lying there. But, if you should happen to come into contact with a damp spot of infected bodily fluids, well then it is very possible.

While it is highly unlikely that you will encounter a bed in a hotel which, not only has not been changed, but is still damp with the previous guests infected bodily fluids, “better safe than sorry”, in this day and age of pandemics and poor housekeeping, is a catch phrase to live by.

The same precautions and methods you should use for any hotel bed when checking for bedbugs, will serve you as well in checking for damp or unclean bedding. Don’t wait until you are ready to climb into bed after a long day of sightseeing, check as soon as you get into your room. GET RID OF THE BEDSPREAD ! Throw it into a corner and forget about it because the last time it was cleaned, Jimmy Carter was in office.Pull back a corner of the bedding closest to the headboard, check for rusty colored spots and bedbugs. Slide your hand and arm under the sheets on top of the mattress protector ( hopefully there is one ) and feel for any damp spots. Remember, you don’t know who slept in this bed before you. Maybe it was an incontinent senior, or a diaper changing mom and baby, what about a bed wetting child. Anything is possible, why not take a minute to make sure before you or one of your family hops in. Now smell your hand, if it stinks, wash and leave the room. Better your hand than the rest of you.

After checking the bed, move on to the headboard, if it’s quilted or fabric covered, just run your hand over it to check for dampness. Again, smell your hand and repeat above instructions. If your hand smells then your head will too once you lay you head there.

Now the most important item, the pillow. This lump of fiber or feather filled material is more than capable of absorbing and storing fluids, mucous, urine, sweat, and blood. All that separates it from you is a pillow case and hopefully a barrier pillow protector.Take the pillow in your hands and squeeze, hold the compressed pillow for 20 seconds, this will give you enough time to feel if any dampness is present. I do this a few times in different places on the pillow, to be sure it is dry.

After spending the 5 minutes it took to inspect the bed, headboard, and pillow, I STILL lay down a travel sheet like Allersac. If clean sheets are all that separate me from the mattress and pillow, then the added protection of my own travel sheet will serve to provide me with the peace of mind to relax and feel comfortable knowing I washed the sheets.

The recent outbreak of human infection of Swine Influenza Virus, SIV (also known as Swine Flu) has been the suspected killer of up to 103 people and sickening more than 1000 people in Mexico. The Mexican fatalities are said to be mainly young adults. In the United States, particular Texas and California, at least 8 people have been sicked too. Health authorities across the globe have been taking necessary measures to stem the spread of this human flu virus.

So how much do you know about the new virus? What are the symptoms and how to prevent it? Here’s what you need to know.

What Is Swine Flu?

Swine Flu is a respiratory disease of pigs that has been around for years and known to cause high level of illness and low death rates in pigs. Since pigs can exchange their form of flu with birds and perhaps other large mammals, it is suspected that they can exchange viruses with humans and cause the recent outbreak.

This new virus has been discovered to contain genetic material from pigs, birds and humans in a way researchers have not ever seen before.

What Are The Symptoms?

Symptoms of Human Swine Flu are much like seasonal flu, commonly fever, running nose, coughing, lack of appetite and lethargy. Other symptoms reported are nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, or even a headache.

How Is It Transmitted From Human To Human?

It is believe that the new virus has been transmitted from human to human through sneezing or coughing of infected people. Another way a person can get infected is through touching something with virus on it, and then touching his/her own nose or mouth after which.

Study shows that a person infected is most contagious during the first 5 days of illness although some people, commonly children, can remain contagious for up to 10 days.

Is It Still Safe To Eat Pork Meat And Pork Products?

Yes, it is still considered safe to eat pork since this new virus has not been shown to be transmissible through eating properly handled and prepared pork (pig meat). It will be killed once the cooking temperature reaches 70 degrees Celsius.

Is There A Human Vaccine To Protect Against It?

No vaccine has been known to protect against the new virus in humans effectively at the moment. It is also not clearly shown whether the current human seasonal influenza vaccines can provide any protection.

Are There Drugs Available To Treat It?

The new virus has been found to be susceptible to four drugs licensed in the United States. They are particularly amantadine, rimantadine, oseltamivir and zanamivir. However, for 2009 outbreak, it is recommended it to be treated with oseltamivir and zanamivir.

How Can You Prevent It?

Keep your hands clean at all times. Be sure to clean your hands after touching any items such as doorknobs, hand rails and bathroom fixtures. Avoid public areas like bus terminals, airports or train stations of city or town where an outbreak is announced in that region. Wear a breathing mask should a major outbreak should occur. Lastly, improve your immune system with supplements like Selenium though there is no guarantee to protect you.

How much do we know about this new H1N1 virus? Actually we do not know the severeness of this new virus to us. But it is always safe to take precautionary measures. Do we have medicines that treat this type of infection?

Centers for Disease Control of USA are recommending the use of oseltamivir or zanamivir for the treatment and/or prevention of infection with the new H1N1 Swine Flu virus. There are also antiviral drugs which are prescription medicines in the forms of pills, liquid or inhaler that fight against the flu. It helps prevent the flu virus from keeping reproducing in your body. These drugs can make you feel better faster and prevent from serious complications.

The next question is, how much each country has in their stock inventory? What if the virus spreads out? While every country in the world is trying to prevent the spread of the virus in and out of their countries, it is best that we also help prevent it within our homes. How can we protect ourselves from getting the virus?

Here is a summary of recommendations I gathered from the articles I read recently:

* You make sure you are aware of the symptoms of a Swine flu virus.
* If you are sick, it is better to call your health care provider right away and ask their advice.
* Stay away with sick people.
* Avoid touching your mouth, nose, and eyes often. Wash your hands always.
* Always cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing.
* Listen to news and watch your TV about for any new case in your area.
* It is better to stay away from countries that are affected by swine flu.
* Avoid sleeping late and take plenty of rest.
* Eat healthy diet foods and do your regular exercise at home.
* Secure yourself a dozen of respirator for emergency.

In summary, if we all observe the precautionary measures in containing the virus within our homes, it will be a big help in preventing the spreading out of this dangerous virus.
